USCIS to Accept Electronic Debit or Credit Card Payments Only Beginning October 28, 2025
USCIS recently announced that beginning October 28, 2025, the agency will only accept filing fee payments through electronic debit from a U.S. bank account, ending its longstanding practice of accepting paper checks and money orders to process benefit applications. Applicants or Petitioners must complete and sign Form G-1650, Authorization for ACH Transactions, and file this together with the benefit request. Alternatively, they may complete and submit Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transactions with the benefit request to authorize a credit card charge for the respective fee.
As stated by the agency, the move is aimed at reducing the time and manpower required to process checks and money orders while reducing the risk of fraud, lost payments, and theft.
USCIS continues to accept paper checks and money orders for applications filed until October 28, 2025.
Applicants and Petitioners are reminded that incorrect amount or form of payment may result in rejection of the benefit request.
