Alisa Pelaez is a law clerk at Rivera & Shirhatti, PC and a third-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center. Originally from Ohio, Alisa lived most of her life in North Carolina. Before entering law school, Alisa worked as an English teacher for five years, two in Spain and three in Texas.
Alisa completed her first year of law school coursework at Florida International University in Miami, where she was a Dean’s Scholar. In Florida, Alisa gained experience in criminal defense, appellate practice, estate planning and real estate law while working two summer associateships. After much consideration, Alisa returned to Texas to complete her legal education at the University of Houston. Because she originally entered law school to pursue Immigration Law, Alisa was excited to join the team at Rivera & Shirhatti shortly after arriving back in Texas. Here, Alisa assists with a wide variety of immigration matters, including family, business, humanitarian, and federal immigration matters. In her free time, Alisa enjoys crafting, writing, and making music.
